eBay

Question for those eBay users, I'll try to be breif. ;)

When Pokemon was all the rage years ago I made a pretty penny, and overall the trade was quite profitable for me, but as the fad passed, so did my profit.  I recently discovered my cards that I stowed away, and I must say I have more than I remember, 140 (with a handful of shiny ones too) when I counted a couple a weeks ago.  Y'all can see where this is going so I'll cut to the chase.  I registered with eBay awhile ago to buy a Me 163 Komet model but when the price rose above $20, I quit.  Buying is one thing, but now I'm serously considering selling something of considerable "value".

Is eBay secure?  I'm afraid I'm going to get the short end of the stick by way of being uninformed of something.

To sell something, eBay says I need a Credit Card.  I could use my dad's, but he's the "everyones-out-to-get-you-trust-no-one" types.  Is there a way for me to sell these suckers on eBay (or anywhere online for that matter)?

Is eBay secure? Well it is and it isn't. I've bought some stuff from them (including my FX5200) with no problems. You just have to watch who your buying off of. eBay tries it's best to protect you but sometimes people slip through the cracks. Seller's rating/reviews is alwasy something to check out before you buy. The stuff I have purchased has been from eBay stores, which are actual online stores that register with eBay to get more customers. These are usually the safest people to buy from.

As for credit cards, I don't think it's necessary. Have you checked out www.paypal.com. Paypal is kind of like an online debit card. You can transfer funds from your bank or from a credit card. It's probably the most secure payment option. I wouldn't recomend using a debit card online though because they are very insecure. Once somebody has your pin and acct number, they cound clean you out of everything your worth.

I agree with Iroquis, eBay is OK as long as your careful.  I have bought a handful of items off eBay (nothing too expensive-but several items) and have never had a problem.  I even sold a car on it and that went well.  I feel that as long as you're careful you'll be fine.
