Hotlinking blocks it, but I've put it on my (very) old Brinkster account which will let everyone see it.
Click here to see video! If there's any problems let me know and I'll find somewhere else to put it

Jon

PS. If it comes up with 'Page not Found' when you click the link, try refreshing it

Holy Crap, that was sweet. ;D That was pretty good meneuvering (?) for a jumbo like that. Scary too, poor passenger seeing the runway before landing on it. :-/

And let that be a lesson to y'all ...
Thats why they built a new airport in Hong Kong ;)
If ya check out airliners.net theres loads of pictures of worse landings than that at the old Kai Tak (Hong Kong) airport.
cheers

On the contrary.........that's some damn good flying!
He's doing a short approach in a airplane that weighs more than some apartment buildings;get's pretty well out of shape; and then manages to recover and plant it on pretty nicely. Check out just the main wheels when you watch the video.

That was very skilled flying, however, that pilot should have executed a missed approach. If something went wrong, who knows what the consequences could be.
P.S. I had no idea the rudder was so powerful on a 747!

It looks like he's doing a crab landing, which is a pretty standard move I think.

The Pilot has to crab Meyekul, but not on the actual landing, where he has to straighten the aircraft out (using the rudder pedals).
The other technique is the sideslip but due to some reasons it's not possible.
1) It's a VERY short final so when he rolls out there is very little time to establish a nice slip.
2) it's not recomended to land a 747 in sideslip configuration. The aircraft has such large wings and the outboard engines are vulnerable when landing with wings not level
