Just look around you and see what inspires you.  Remember, poetry doesn't have to rhyme.

What about the experience of flying/soaring above the clouds?

Or the thousands of cool people that you've met through the click of the mouse???  ;D

Ok, so that last one isn't such a good idea...;-)

Well, I did eventually work up an Idea, I'm writing about a british pilot during the battle of britian. About what he thought war was like, and its reality. Borrowing alot of ideas fromt the CFS3 hand book (surprised that I even still have it after 1 and a half years).

more like thousands of crazy people, with whom I fit in ;D

Cheers
Jeff

It was a very good idea.  I wouldn't say thousands but hundreds here and on other forums.  I've never met them in person and probably never will but I know many of them as if they were my next door neighbors.

I'll give a big Cyber "Amen" to that one Jim. In many ways the computer has taken us out of Sociey and pent us up in dark offices and bedrooms.
On the other side of the coin, it has opened a new form of socialization. I would describe myself as mildly introverted but here I sit conversing with people from all over the world.
In what kind of circumstances other than this would you have a teenager from the Western US talking to a motorcyle riding Grandpa from the UK about WWII aircraft?
I think that Jared's idea is an excellent one.

I've still got a poem lying around here 'bout the BoB. If you're interested in it,you can have it.

-edit: Actually,it's more like lyrics for a song than like a poem.

It's in English...;)

Ah,well,here ya go:

"A war story"

She left him in August '41,
he stood crying in the summer sun,
his friends tried to brightem him up,
but he just drank alcohol cup for cup.
He saw no other way than committing suicide,
he'd lose everything,his mind ,his life,his pride.
An officer saved his life ,our hero was totally drunk,
he stood on a jump, the old man prevented the deadly jump.
He told him 'bout the RAF,took him by the hand,
told him that those guys were defending their glorious land.
As soon as he was well again,he signed up,
became a pilot in the "Spitfire Club".

He found some new friends ,new comerades in the "Spit Club", he went with them to war.
Became an ace, within three months, he could score,
killed seven Germs with his guns, his favourite saying was:
"never trust those huns."
He became happy again ,stopped thinking of his lost girl,
until the day of February '42 ,when he stood in the swirl,
of a Spit's propeller,he thought of her,just for a second now,
he climbed into his plane taxiied through the snow,
he was confused,his concentratiuon lost,
the girl was gone, the one he liked most.

He was to intercept some german bomber planes,
with this in mind,he released himself from it's girlfriends chains.
His plane climbed up,into the bright blue sky,
he wanted to fight for his country and just wanted to fly.
The dogfight was nasty the escort surprised the Brits,
many 109s on the tails of the Spits.
He saved two wingmen, before a germ focused on him,
our hero tried to get away, the chance for this was thin.
Just for a second, he thought of his girlfriend,
he lost concentration and sealed his end.
When he became aware again, when he woke up,
he could hear the bullets hitting his plane, "tack, tack, tack".
He lost his plane ,he fell from the sky,
he tried to bail out,but he couldn't even cry,
he hit the ground hardly like a stone,
he was dead immediately ,broken were his bones.
He was buried later ,on a graveyard nearby,
his former girlfriend stood near his grave, you could watch her cry...

Violets are blue,
Just like the sky,

There was a young man from Stornoway,
Who was once accidentally bourneaway,
He fell out of a cloud,
When he wasn't allowed,
To live in a tent in the driveway.
