Here is a link I found showing the B17 accident occuring.

http://kcbsimg.dayport.com/htm/cbs2play ... %20Landing

You can tell that the immediate stopping of the props, probably cause major engine damage. In the video it can't tell but the belly turret mechinism is actuall pused up through the top of the fuselage as seen in this photo.

No doubt allot of damage, and she won't be flying anytime soon!  :'(

p.s. Use Idiot Explorer too view video, didn't work in Netscape???

It seems a little sudden to me. Are you sure this is in real time? All I get is repeated shots of the aircraft before & after the gear collapsed.

It's repeated shots of the same 2 seconds as the gear collapses.

To the best of my knowledge it is real time from a news chopper, obviously edited. But if you watch closely you can see the props turning then stop suddenly.
Sorry I have been looking everywhere for video and all the major news sites for some reason have removed it!! FAA maybe???? Makes me wonder why the EAA hasn't released thier video or photos of it yet? Makes one think they are hiding something??? After all at first they said there was only the crew aboard, but truth is there were also 5 paying passengers!

Just as in every commercial airline disaster, this is an ongoing investigation.  The FAA and NTSB are usually hesitant to release ANYTHING until the investigation has been completed.

I shouldn't speculate but the more I think about this it seems likely that either the gear was not down & locked or the selection lever was accidentally moved to the Up position.

You might still be able to get that trip Fret. The Collings Foundation is offering flights in the B-17 "Nine O Nine" this year. This the tour schedule. http://www.collingsfoundation.org/cf_schedule-wof.htm

I think this confirms my suspicions.
