A Delta Airlines flight experienced problems before takeoff at Albany International Airport on Sunday.
The plane, bound for Atlanta, was supposed to take off at 12:34 p.m., but it aborted taking off after having engine problems. Airport Operations reported damaged engine parts were found over a 300 foot-long section of the airport's main runway.
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the cause. The 97 passengers were booked on other flights.

Blimey Scott...
That sounds lucky/unlucky....

...!
Furtunately they seem to have abandoned the take-off within the length of the runway.
Any later could have been a disaster....

...!
...I think I would have caught a 'bus to Atlanta after an experience like that....

...!
Cheer all...!
Paul.

Despite the love of flying and an 18 hour bus trip, I think I would have too!

Lucky indeed.

Any idea of the type of plane? I would like to know purely for selfish reasons.

737-100/200. According to the news reports I've picked up, they've discovered fan blades the entire length of the debris field.

More than likely, you're right. But the two are close enough (as far as cabin layout is concerned) that's all I've ever needed to know about them. (Even the safety cards say 100/200! lol)

i think the only significant difference is that the -200 is something like 3 feet longer.

Which would make sense...if you've ever been there you'd know that it hasn't grown up to be a cow yet. Still just a baby.
