The Almighty dollar speaks again...

You know, this is really pathetic.  Advertising on uniforms, and now this.  Weak, really weak...

Look at it this way .  The ballplayers have more incentive to get to base/score runs, so they can "step on the spider!".

The "purist" in me gave up hope once Lotus went from British Racing Green (which had already been NASCARred with advertising stickers) to the red and white "John Player Specials"  ...

...but fortunately, the "British racing green" hasn't died yet. At least not on modern english cars.... 8)

MLB has scrapped their idea to put ads on bases.

Well done, MLB!
Great edit, Bob.

I loved the lame excuse about 'we want to appeal to younger viewers' they were using.  What a load of crap that was.  They want to appeal to advcertisers wallets is what they wanted...  ::)

Major League Baseball.

The whole controversy didn't make much difference to me...just another revenue source after all. I don't spend all that much time watching the bags...I watch the players and the ball. :)

I stopped watching baseball all together after the first time the players went on strike for more pay!

Sport is no longer sport. It's become big business which is one reason I'm no longer interested in watching it. Even "amateur" sportsmen/women have to be sponsored to succeed these days. They used to do it for the pleasure & were honoured if asked to compete for their country. The final straw for me was seeing test match cricket umpires with advertising logos on their white coats. ::)
