Greener Aviation... :-)

I'm currently supposed to be working an a 8-12 page paper for my cultural dynamics of technology class.

In this class we are supposed to be using the information that we have learned in the class to discuss some issues that are present in either our industry, or intended future industry.

So far I have been looking at the aviation industry and how many companies are trying to become "greener"

if anybody knows where I can find some reputable sources to add to my list of sources for this paper, I would be much appreciative... :-)

Hi Jared:
I may be off track here so forgive me if I am.
Have you contacted any of the aircraft manufacturers like Boeing or Cessna for example to see what they can provide you with?
Also the military...ask what they can provide...they are very helpful.
I know aircraft to-day are being built to take off and land in shorter distances as well as being quieter.
The military is also doing some major studies and also dusting off some past studies.
As for me...my strip is grass and I keep it 3 to 4 inches long.  I hope I am doing my part :) :)LOL

Sorry I am not much help...Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug

Thanks for the info Doug, as for contacting all of these agencies, it may be a little late as the paper is due in one week. Luckily the prof. isn't into fine details as your search would result. I myself might research that more after the class is over, but not now.

I believe what I'm going to focus on is the iformation that we learned about environmental concerns, and striving to maintain a society nd culture that is environmentally sustainable, ie. it does not pollute, or remove fossil fuels from the earth, or is doing something of equal or better value to maintain our planet for future generations.

So far I have found several reputable *.pdf files through the search engines, as well as several scholarly journals from the library at the main campus.

Also I ordered a book called: "For Greener Skies : Reducing Environmental Impacts Of Aviation"

The physical book has not arrived yet, however I was smart enough to order the pdf version of the book as well, and had it within minutes of ordering it! :-) Can't beat that! :-)

The following is a very rough draft of the thesis statement that I'm hoping to use:

"The Aviation Industry offers a wide array of services to many different cultures and many more individuals throughout the world.  These services range from meeting regular everyday transportation needs, to the needs of remote outposts in the midst of Africa, all brought to you by advances in technology. While many are praising these advances in technology, others are protesting in belief that the environmental

Wow! I knew that would be a lot of writing, but I didn't think that it was that bad! ;-)

Nice one fozzer ;) ;D ;D ;D ;D

As for green aviation, I know Boeing's new plane the 7E7 "Dreamliner" claims to use 20% more fuel-efficient compared to other airliners it's size ;)...

Hope this helps :-X
