End of the Easterholiday in Belgium ( for the happy few like students, not me ...) - so my female collegue was back from her trip from Egypt.

On discussing her flight she told me she'd flown a Egypt air Boeing 777! and she wasn't even impressed. Hadn't noticed it was slightly bigger than a usual 737 ...  :-/ Women ...  ;D

I still like her though, dispite this total lack of respect for that giant plane.  ;D

...and they say "size doesn't matter"... ...!
...I don't believe it... ...!

LOL Omag. This reminds of something. I was chatting to a young girl who works in the cafe where I have breakfast. She had been taking driving lessons so I asked which type of car she was learning on. She told me quite seriously - "It's a red one".

Most women don't feel the same as men when it comes to machinery. I'm surprised your colleague remembered the type of aircraft. I'm not particularly interested in airliners myself. I rarely take much notice of the type I fly on providing it's comfortable & gets me there on time.

Aye, we can sit here and debate Spits and Corsairs, but who can tell the difference between a 767 and a 777?

Simple way is the landing gear, 777 has 6 wheels on each side, while the 767 only has 4. Then theres the size, very difficult when you have seen both upclose to mistake them in terms of size. the nose section on both is also differant.

Now a follow up question to scorpions. Who cares what the difference is?

This is all very well but in some cases I've never seen the outside of the aircraft until I'm on board & look out the window. Even then it's usually a job to tell what it is without checking the emergency instructions to make sure.

I've crossed the Atlantic in a 767 but I'm blessed if I can remember the airline.

Personally these days i am not worried about twin engined jets. having had the pleasure of flying many planes all i can say these days is, give me a plane with pleanty of leg room who cares about engines:)

My point is when in normal airplane spotting conditions, you can't see, or hear, the difference.  Shrill engines.  Tube.  Wings. :-/ Like Woody said, who cares?

The thing that usually intrigues me most in an airliner is the fold down table. The way it folds down, then folds down a little bit more, then you can pull them in and out to make them just right. After that its a careful study of the back of the seat in front.

This usually works fine until the person in front of you decides to adjust their seat, just when you have it all carefully adjusted & the meal is being served. I invariably sit behind the biggest person on the whole aircraft. It never fails no matter which seat I choose. I have a particular talent for it - like choosing the wrong queue in the supermaket. Works without fail every time. LOL

When I was flying Ryan Air from Ireland I had the misfortune to sit behind a man who was too fat for the seatbelt. He really got quite het up when the stewardess suggested an extension.

didnt he have to buy the seat next to him? i know thats a couple of airlines policy for the larger people in life:)
