Airport to be named 'Robin Hood'

Britain's newest airport is to be named after legendary hero Robin Hood.

So where do you think this new airport is located? Why, in Nottingham I hear you cry. Everyone knows that. 8)

Wrong, try again. ::)

in Doncaster, Yorkshire. No wonder I get more confused by the minute. :o ??? ::)

The mind boggles.

They'd be better off calling it Ivanhoe in thet case as the castle that Ivanhoes is based upon is in Doncaster if memory serves.... Silly people ::) ::) ::)

Shouldn't there be a mister Fozzer airport in Great-Brittan?

Robin Hood airport sounds  so ... weak and sissylike. Whats wrong with powerfull names like Heathrow! Now thats an airport i'd fly to. Not to Robin Hood international. Jeez  >:(  ;D  ;D  ;D

R u saying that from personal experience? If you want to know my geography grade I can tell you. I'm no Geographical potato block! I know your only kidding. ;D :) :D ;) :P
Anyway what has that got to do with naming an airport?
Probably the guy is either a bit simple or a fan of Robin Hood. Or more likely he is both!
Regards
Ben

Well I did teach geography for a year Ben ::) ;D ;D ;D
I just can't figure why Doncaster would associate itself with Robin "Men in Tights" Hood, when they have Ivanhoe...
Oh and I'm an English teacher these days ;)

Mark

Ps. How about an Dangerous Ozzy Airport? You know the sort of place where if they don't drag you out of the wreckage and dump you on a stretcher then you weren't trying hard enough ;D ;D ;D 8)

Very odd. But i'm with Omag. Heathrow sounds far more authoritarial than Robin Hood. Anyway, no one knows where Robin Hood came from. I've seen a telly program saying he actually came from Worchestershire. ::) :P

And its true about Britains and geography. All most of them know is that its in the center of the universe. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;)

P.s. There is no prize for the first person to tell me where Rutland is. 8)

Good try Tempest. ;)
The 900-acre airport and business zone site is owned by Peel Airports Limited, the company that broke new ground in 2002 by renaming Liverpool airport Liverpool John Lennon Airport.

PS. Possibly the same people responsible for renaming one of my favourite pubs from The Queen's Head to The Slug & Lettuce. :o ::)

Needless to say it's no longer one of my favourite pubs.
