Anyone here know anything about these things? I went for a stroll along the prom this morning & saw this little boy being dragged along by his dad. Thought I was seeing things for a moment until I realised he had wheels on the heels of his trainers. I've never seen anything like this before so asked where he got such a thing. Turns out the family emigrated to Aussieland 3 years ago & were back here on a visit. He told me they're called Heelies & gave me a demonstration. I took this photo but it doesn't really show you what they're like. I should have taken a close-up of the trainers heelies themselves. Too late now as I shall probably never see them again.



PS. I'm not up with the latest gadgets. Maybe these are quite common & everyone knows about them but me.
Looks like fun though. That's if you don't fall flat on your back.

I did see a pair of these once for sale in Watford Doug, I thought I'd gone mad and actually picked them up to take a look at them. They were meant to be an alternative to rollerblades...

Thanks Craig. That's what I thought. This little chap was quite an expert. His dad ran along towing him behind & let go for me to take that photo. He was going at quite a speed.

I asked him what happened if he wanted to go down steps for example. He showed me that the wheels (actually rollers) are easily removed & put in your pocket when you want to walk around normally. Very clever.

Those things came out awhile ago here in the states, but their popularity died down before they could become a fad or anything.  I thought they were all the rage when I first saw them, but now I think they're kinda silly.

They're also good for getting your mates out of the local bar when they've had "too much."

I'm not as silly as I look. I took my stroll early yesterday morning before the all trippers had arrived. Most of the locals have gone off to Spain (or the West Country in their caravans). It was a bit different today & I usually steer well clear of the town centre when it gets crowded.

I'll have to get together with my Rocker mates on our bikes, pop down there, and have a burn-up, and maybe a fight with the local Mods and a tussle with the Fuzz.... ...!

No thanks. Go to Brighton if you like. They're used to that sort of thing. I steer well clear of these places. We have enough problems without you & your big hairy mates to worry about. You might have a job finding any Fuzz to tussle with. I haven't seen a copper this year. Not seen any Mods recently either.

All of the Mods are now eco friendly vegetarians living in Provence raising organic cabbages.

It is nice & that's how I prefer it to stay. It's usually a tad more lively than in my pic though. Although the sun was out it was still a tad chilly round the old lug'oles & other parts if you get my meaning. I'm not breaking my summer gear out for a while yet.

As a matter of fact most of my neighbours are Londoners. Very nice neighbours they are too. They come to the peaceful sunny Costa Geriatrica to enjoy their retirement. I think I'm the only local living in my road.
