Concorde eh?

Just back from dropping my son and his family at Heathrow for their flight back to Newark and blow me, what did we see over at the BA maintenence hangar side?

Only a pristine Concorde parked as large as life. Now according to the media the one being taken on the barge by river and sea to Haddington (Edinburgh, Scotland) was the first to fly back then and the last to leave Heathrow for its new home (couldn't fly as parts had been nicked off it to keep other aircraft flying).

Evidently this isn't quite true. And yes guv, I was stone cold sober as I had to drive back round the M25 ;)

cool:) i get to see one of them at filton anytime i head for cribbs causeway, she is such a beautiful aircraft.
Side note the final concorde to be moved will be a prototype from Filton, it will be cut into pieces and shipped to a museum(cant remember where) where it will be rebuilt and refurbished to look as good as the rest

Interesting Roger... Are you sure it wasn't the king sized model one they used to have on the way into Heathrow?

(No....not RIP.....)

British Airways. Concorde. Timeless

Oh yeah. And heading round to Heathrow saw would you believe a Eurotunnel locomotive.......on the back of a lorry??????????

Thought they were supposed to travel errrrr on the railway?

Just thought - have the French investors who are trying to get the Board all sacked been successful and it was given to an old Director as a leaving present? :)

Nope but they can ask us Brits for a full and colourful explanation... especially the bits about crashes and the buffet car :P

Lets just say that if you want an overpriced death then British rail services have it. They have one of the worst safety records in Europe. In fact there are third world countries with better safety records!!!
As for the buffet cars, well rumour has it they take the sandwiches out of the display case once a month and scrub them down with bleach to kill off the mould (I thought it was lettuce!), and you'll need to get a mortgage just to afford a luke warm cup (small) of mud coffee, as for sugar and cream they are well into the realms of fantasy!!!
I could happily go on all day, but Pete would give me a thick ear for the kind of language I'd have to use to describe the British rail services. Frankly I've never encountered such a useless bunch of ninnys in my life!!! And I won't even go into some areas of Britain where the rail service is run by private enthusiast organisations, but if you want a sound view then read Bill Brysons Notes From A Small Country, there is one American gentleman who really understands the UK, and is so funny I daren't risk reading him on the bus as I make strange snorting giggle noises that upset the other victims ;D
