Tehehehehee. :D It's good when a plan comes together. I had a good giggle when I heard about this on the radio a few minutes ago. You couldn't make it up. LOL ;D

Coke recalls controversial water

Coca-Cola is to recall all bottles of its Dasani water in the UK, after levels of bromate were found to exceed legal levels, Reuters has reported.
The recall is an embarrassment for the drinks giant, which has faced criticism for selling what is treated and purified tap water.

Coca Cola said it had consulted the Food Standards Agency, which agreed there were no immediate safety fears.

The recall of about 500,000 bottles is expected to be completed in 24 hours.

Cola Cola produces Dasani from mains water at a factory in Kent.

The company says Dasani - recently launched in the UK - is "as pure as bottled water gets" thanks to a "highly sophisticated purification process".

Coca-Cola said the recall was a precaution.

Less stringent

Bromate is a non-metallic salt that can be found in drinking water as a by-product of certain water purification processes.

The UK limit for bromate in bottled and tap water is 10 parts per billion, while the Dasani samples had tested between 10 and 22 parts per billions, Reuters reported.

European tap water limits for bromate are less stringent at 25 parts per billion.

Bromate is considered to be a potential carcinogen.

I'll stick with plain old tap water thanks. 8)

No, that's my point. This proves that tapwater is purer than the bottled stuff. Coca-Cola say that their Dasani is "as pure as bottled water gets". This doesn't say much for it then does it. ::)

I always said that people are fooling themselves by drinking this bottled rubbish & being overcharged for the privilege. There's one born every minute. LOL ;)

My dad went through a phase like this, he kept insisting on buying bottled sparkling mineral water as it was more healthy. After a month of my refering to it as the H2O with a fart in he got back to reality ;D
Nice to see somebody take an ego-belt though. I imagine some senior exec. at Coke will be looking for a new job tomorrow, I understand BNF are looking for people to promote how safe uranium is ;D ;D ;D

Ozzy :)

On my first & only holiday in Spain in the early 70s we were advised to drink bottled water & even use it to brush our teeth to avoid the dreaded Spanish tummy. I went for a walk the day after we arrived & saw a guy who worked in our hotel bar refilling the previous day's empty bottles out of the tap in the backyard. :o ;D

If I had seen the potential then I would now be millionaire like Del Boy Trotter. ::) ;)

My dad has a friend whos property includes a natural spring, needless to say there have been a few companies offering him money for the property. But as my dad said, why take a few hundred thousand now, when he could set his own company up and make millions?
nice to see coke get brought down a rung or two.

If I want natural spring water I can pop along to the nearby village of Fulking (that's right FULKING) & drink as much as I want for nothing. The spring water has been free here for centuries. The way things are going it won't be long before some bright spark decides to make me pay for the privilege. ::)

I would much rather take a few more steps & sample the wares inside the Shepherd & Dog. :D

It's purely in your mind old chap. The suffix "ing" meaning "settlement" is very common in Sussex where I live. Before you ask "sex" means territory of. Sussex is the territory of the South Saxons.

Here is a map of my local area.

From the short description in yor last posting it sounds like my kinda pub ...... apart from the fact it gets busy.

To get back on the subject though ...... the frightening thing about this desani is .... If its purified London tap water and its badly contaminated ......... HOW BAD IS THE TAP WATER????  :-/ :-/ :o ....... now theres something for the Londoners to ponder when they turn the tap on.
