well as some of you know i have been searching for various models of the USS Enterprise. Well my mother being the kind person she is, went and bought me a light up enterprise E model for my birthday, its taken me about 5 hours to complete today, and apart from a little section not going together perfectly, this is a great model. Now all i need is the A and D light up models and the D and E gold ones and i shall have the full set :)
took a few pictures, sorry the quality isnt great but i was in a rush.

without the lights and some detail.

just taken now its dark, with the lights on.

The wiring on this was a pain but worth it. And now i have a nice desk model

I believe that USS in this case stands for United Star Ship. The first Space Shuttle was named after NCC-1701 in the original Star Trek series.

Enterprise, the first Space Shuttle Orbiter, was originally to be named Constitution (in honor of the U.S. Constitution's Bicentennial). However, viewers of the popular TV Science Fiction show Star Trek started a write-in campaign urging the White House to select the name Enterprise.

I'm really digging the second one with the little fuzziness and all, makes it seem like it's going warp speed or something..:-)

i thought that space craft was called Enterprise, without the USS...

That was my understanding as well, The USS was reserved for the real ship as I recall.

You are obviously not a Star Trek fan. Read this. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Starship_Enterprise

not to be picky, but as i said before. The NX01 never had a name. Those obviously brainless writers of the series decided to name it enterprise because much like the rest of the series, they are seriously stuck for ideas.
Just like the written scripts have the first ever borg sighting, as being by Picard and his crew, not the NX01 crew. Alas i could spend all day trashing that series but i wont:) As i found out tonight the lighting system on this ship eats batterys and runs them flat in about 2 hours.
