Some of you might've seen I drawing a made awhile back with an F4U attacking a tank (that turned out to be a Tiger).  I've decided I want to promote that 2D scene to 3D.  I've scoured the internet for modles of an F4U-1D or a F4U-1A and a Tiger in the same scale, but it turns out the only pair is a Tamiya Corsair, which I can get at my local Hobby Lobby, but the Tiger is made by Revell.  Not just Revell, but Revell Germany. Is there anyone here who'd be willing to purchase a model at their local shop with some mailed USDs?  I'd pay for all shipping costs etc.

I know we have some Englishmen and a German amongst the boards! Don't think we have any Frenchmen tho'.

Have you checked out 1/72 scale kits?

There are loads of 1/72 Corsairs and Hasegawa makes a Tiger I (kit #HAS31108) http://www.dragonmodelsusa.com/dmlusa/p ... d=HAS31108

Probably a lot easier to find.

Actually, that was the exact scale I found a good pair for.  The Corsair wasn't too hard, like you say.  But most Tigers I was finding are made in 1:35, and no Corsair I could find was in 1:35!

Areas Where Hasegawa Beats Revell:
Availability. Revell AG. kits are very difficult to obtain in the US due to limited North American distribution. Hasegawa kits seem to be found everywhere. The Hasegawa kits are also a bit cheaper in cost, but as this article demonstrates, "you get what you pay for."

Unfortunately, my offer must still stand.

Things I can do:
1) "Order" a 1/72 kit from Ebay(.de).
2) Send a nice lil' packge to the States.

close to Schiphol airport is a hobby aviation shop (the biggest one in Europe) that sells everything that has to do with aviation. they also ship stuff all over the world. check out their site as it is in english too!

Scorpion pal, untill recently, I had an unmade Airfix 1/72 Tiger I just lying around. It would have never got built so I gave it to a young relative. Check out e-bay as I'm sure you will pick one up on there with no trouble but failing that, I would be quite happy to pick one up for you and mail it over.

Probably the IS-2.  The tank that beats entire Wehrmacht divisions by mere sight!  Forget shells, IS-2's primary weapon is heart attack!

Sending an envlope to the UK or Germany costs the same, but I dunno how much it costs to send here.  Do y'all know the websites for the British and German postal services?

I tend to use E-Bay a last resort, I signed up to try to get a super rare Me. 163 Komet model, but the price bacame so ludicrously high I didn't bother.  And now I can't unsign.

I read some reviews on the Airfix version, and basically it OK, but it's more of a toy than a model.

It's swings and roundabouts with e-bay. I often see the same item go for widly different prices. I get plenty of cheap stuff, but some items always seem to go for silly money.
The Airfix Tiger is a very old kit now. It's been around as long as I can remember and is certainly starting to show its age now. I would not put it in the toy catagory, but I would not say it was on a par with Tamiya or the Dragon kit. 1/72 scale was very popular for armour when I was younger, but 1/35 is now the standard popular for armour. Sadly, aircraft come in 1/72, 1/48, 1/32 and 1/24 so it's hard to match aircraft and armour these days.

Yeah, I was almost about to resort making a 1:35 Tiger and a 1:32 Corsair.  Good thing I found the match tho'!

I'll be looking up prices tomorrow, to know how many weeks I'm going to have to work to pay for this!  I'm off to bed for now tho', I think I might stop by the fridge though...  Ciao!

Probably. But I think this tank wouldn't be a problem for a nice Hs-129,also called "the flying can opener".

Probably so, if it wasn't shot down first.  CCCP : 12 old Yaks vs Germany : 5 great Bf 109s.  Just can't argue with numbers.

Reminds me of Blitzkrieg II, where you get three Russian conscipts for every one you train (purchase).
