Rules That All Must, but Aren't, Complying With

Postby Scorpiоn » Sat Mar 13, 2004 11:54 pm

From what I saw when I created my banner, eveyone was staying at around 650-600 pix wide so that's what I did mine in, and since that is how wide the actual forum window is.

Clarification

Postby Scorpiоn » Sun Mar 14, 2004 5:01 pm

This post isn't really aimed at anybody; just a freindly remeinder. :)

I just find it ridiculous that load times are cut in half because of huge avatars and stuff. ::)

Well said Scorp. I never figured out the need for huge sig images. This seems to be a recent trend. Some I've seen are almost as big as screenshots. LOL ??? ::)

I tried editing some myself but the worst culprits are hosted on a remote server. This is against the forum rules & slows the whole forum down.

I used to do this myself, but it seems ridiculous to have to babysit people.  Pehaps a reminder like this was all that was needed. ???

if mine is a problem your welcome to edit it, it seems to be within the rules, there are a couple of sigs that are a little larger, but if theres a problem just let me know.

Personal

As far as yours goes, it well within restrictions.  It only really becomes a problem if I have to scroll down a page or two because of someones signature! :P Tho' I've only seen one or two of those in the past.  Things like:

[glb]this.[/glb]

While the following is just my opinion, I've never cared for pictures in signatures, just banners or icons.  Like me! ;)

I feel so good that someone besides me has been noticing this trend of late........I have wanted to make my feelings public, but didn't want to become known as the heavy for continued complaints about image and file sizes in avatars and signatures.......to my mind, there is no reason to have large images in signatures as it should be just that, a signature comment and not a graphic, although a banner may provide lots of info if done with a bit of taste......mine was done as a copy of one I saw a while back, and the overall size was considered carefully before it was started.......even in saying that, I would be first to downsize if requested in the interest of speeding up the loading of pages.....if my stuff gets offensive in the eyes of the graphics police, let me know, I'll fix it  ;)

I don't know if I did it right but I'm getting 60 by 100 and just under 6k for my guitar

Sorry folks - call me Mr Misery if you want, but I find all these big banners far too much.

Not so bad when a person makes one post but when you keep seeing the same

HUGE

signature pics time after time after time after ti.......

in the same thread when someone does follow-up postings - well I have to say I do get pi**ed off!

I have a feeling some users a going to just try to let this post just sink away, and then they'll be out of the spotlight, but after a couple more days, I'm going to start turning in names and the like, it getting a bit out of hand.

I wish you luck Scorp. As with most things in life the people who most need to read this thread won't see it anyway. ::)

Call me pedantic if you like but this forum has very few rules or restrictions. There is a very good reason for the ones we have & I don't think it's asking a lot to expect members to abide by them.

I don't think anyone was getting at you Jared. To avoid any argument I've removed mine. I've also resized my avatar image. :)
