Alas if we respond to a terrorist threat in the way they want, we loose.
If they force us to change our way of life, they win...
But I wouldn't believe half of what you hear on Fox News, they're famous for being wrong/inaccurate/living in a fantasy.
I think Britain is far more likely to be next on the hit-list :(

When was the last time these terrorists gave us warning of where they were going to attack?

This could just be anyone trying to scare the french government from doing what they are doing.

Also, if it was fox news then I would take it with a large pinch of salt. I remember what they had to say on the death of David Kelly and the Hutton report. And quite frankly, star wars has more truth to it.

I just heard about this on BBC radio news so I assume the report is correct. Woody is quite right. There are all sorts of weirdos out there these days. With the situation as it is now anyone can send anonymous warnings & create panic wherever they wish. They don't need to be terrorists at all. It's similar to the people who take pleasure in spoof 999/911 emergency calls to the fire service. They have to respond even if they suspect they're not genuine.

There are plenty of people with greivances against France or any other country. Nobody is immune from these threats. It's just another thing we have have to cope with. You can't set the clock back & pretend it never happened. Once Pandora's Box has been opened there's no way of shutting it.

I don't want to get too political here. Like most other countries in Europe, France has been dealing with terrorist groups for decades.

Spain's reaction to the terrorist bombings has made them even more bold. Now they will threaten every nation to try and get them to bend to their perverted will. If we don't make a stand and answer them with the only thing they understand....pure brute force and unmerciful show of deadly force....they will just continue.

I think this thread has gone far enough but I would just like to make this point. Brute force where? Who do you hit? Armies no longer face each other & fight it out on the field like they used to. This is a completely different type of warfare, just as much psycological as physical. You can't fight it with conventional weapons.

Now I fully expect this thread to be deleted. ;)

Yes, the good people of Spain's reaction just made the terrorists even more bold.  People need to understand that the terrorists don't attack only because of war.  They did, after all, attack first.  The fact is that they despise the western way of life and that their true mission is to instill fundamentalist Islamic ideals into the whole world, no matter what your political stance, only your culture matters.  I would not be at all surprised to see the good nations of France or Germany attacked, even though they were against the war.  These two nations are western nations with a western culture, therefore they are enemies.

their true mission

Well, the true mission is never uttered in Western news, but if I gave the real story that would just heat things up around here.  No need for that. :P

All I'll say, is Terrorism is yesterdays Communism, and while the actual idea of Terrorism actually does hurt people (whereas Communism didn't), 100 years from now, do you think the generations will look back on this and say, "What clear headed, logical people!"?  As Hagar said, the method of warfare has once again changed, so only time will tell how this one will play out.  Though I seriously doubt a few crazy loons hopped up on religion can overthrow the world. ::)

Ooh, I forgot to mention.

It's popularly misconcieved that politics are banned on Simviation.  Pete himself said they're just "highly discouraged".  If we all conduct ourselves then there's no reason for the thread to be locked.

PS: Keep an open mind.  To all ideas.
PPS: And I stress the use of "all". :-*

That may be the case in certain topics, but I believe Pete has pretty much banned political discussions ;)

Before i deleated my first post thinking i may have unknowingly broke the rules at simviation.but i did not want to get on politic roll.or slander any nation or country.but just to make the statement that France didnt go to war in iroc.and just because it passed a law about the head scarfs whitch it has every right to do.is now a target by terroist.thats what this topic is about terroist and France and a new threat.and it seems to make no diffrence if a country went to war or not the point is if you afend terroist by the laws you pass in your country then your a target and i am woundering if this may be a new trend in terror.and that is if the story is not a hoaks and holds up.but did not intend to break the rules at simviation if i did verry sorry.but the matter of terroist and we pulling togeather on it may be the only answer to ending it.it just seems that way to me.but if the post is not violation of the simviations fourms then i would like to know and read how you feal about this subject on terroist in light of the new threat on France.and if the post is a violation of the fourms then please deleate it.
