English children's show from the 70s?

Can anyone from England tell me if this show "Rainbow" was an actual children's show? it has a hippo named Zippy, what appears to be a frog named George, and a bear...

Not just the 70's either. I remember watching that sometimes and i'm just 16. ;D

Alas yes, I can remember Rainbow from my youth, and I was born in '72!!!
As I recall the other two puppet characters were Fred and George.
They also had a blonde girl on the show called Jane, but she lost her job after a couple of years when a tabloid newspaper revealed she's been a go-go girl :P ;D

The MPEG is too big for me to download. Is there something wrong with it?  I'm wondering why you ask if it's a children's show. ???

cant you watch it as it downloads?? it should just open into windows media player, you dont need the whole thing to understand why he asked if it was serious.
