My friend just bought this WWII patch..he wants to make sure if belongs to 2nd panzergrenadier division?

actually though I figured that someone would have already answered this question for you...:-)

Ranger I don't think this is a German insignia. I've been looking through my big book of military insignia, and I've found two that are similar but not the same, both are British...
1) Scottish Command (post '45), however was on an all red field.
2) HQ Middle East Land Forces, however the ensignia should be top half red, bottom half blue.
I'll keep looking, but I think you need to be looking in the direction of Britain or the Commonwealth on this one

Ps. Just a silly thought, but it could be Polish, the colours are correct for their flag

That's a rampant lion and I cannot find any german units YET that used it as insignia.

Yeah, its not shaped like the german insignia.
