remote control?!? you're kidding!

2 years ago I was looking for a new cd player for the car and a sales person pointed out a remote control for the deck I liked.  I said "you have to be kidding".  He was not and looked at me like I was an idiot for not accepting this as anything but normal.  Now, this was not for a trunk mounted cd changer, but a line-of-sight remote for the deck that is 2 feet from me!  Can someone explain please and let me know if they are still doing this, or did Kenwood just try this "concept" once?

No, a hand held remote the size of a credit card.  At least I always know where the deck is--the remote is sometimes on the seat or the console or falls on the floor.  Stupid thing is i actually have tried to use it!

I've seen in-car systems with RC - but not with ONLY RC - The deck still had control buttons on the front ...... I suppose a rear seat passenger could control the CD that way - but can't see any reason a driver would want hand held RC....  ???

Great for limos I would guess but what else??>>

You should know by now that every piece of electronic wizardry needs a handset to go with it. Not only that but they are all different & include many features you will never need or figure out what they actually do. I have something like 10 or 12 handsets scattered around my home. I can never find the correct one when I need it or remember how to use it when I do. This involves finding the instructions & so it it goes on. Why is life so complicated these days? LOL ??? ;D

In a conversion van (I'm not sure if Britain has these or not) you can mount anything your little heart desires.  Some of these things are like miniature homes themselves, with TV, gaming system, refrigerators, toilets, beds, etc...  a remote for a stereo would be very handy there.
