This is all I can find. http://100megsfree4.com/farshores/pghos105.htm
Some paranormal site.

Barnoldswick is a very strange place. It's a small town that was once in Yorkshire but is now officially in Lancashire. Nobody seems quite sure where it is. ???

I have relatives living near there & used to visit regularly. I remember we had a very nice meal at a pub in Gisburn just down the road some years ago. ;)
I would treat this story with a pinch of salt - but then I never believed in ghosts & ghoulies anyway. ::)

I don't think there was ever an airfield in the area. Barnoldswick's main claim to fame is the Rolls Royce factory where the Whittle jet engine was developed. There are 2 RR factories there now manufacturing wide-chord turbine blades among other things.
much controversy still rages in the town about which council should run its affairs. up until a quarter of a century ago barnoldswick was part of north yorkshire, but sweeping boundary changes in 1974 handed the town over to lancashire county council. remnants of the previous infrastructure are still apparent, with yorkshire water and yorkshire electricity still supplying the town, as well as the majority of residents only being able to receive yorkshire television, rather than granada. residents are split over whether the red rose or the white rose should rule the roost, and it is sure to be a debate that rumbles on.

barnoldswick is wet. very wet indeed. its location, close to the foot of weets hill (397m), means that it suffers from more than its fair share of relief rain. this has seemingly always been the case as the town was intended as the location for an important monastery way back in norman times. however the continued poor weather, combined with thieving locals, meant that plans were abandoned. however, the same monks then moved on to the leeds area and built kirkstall abbey instead.

Well in all the years I have been flying have never seen one single UFO or Ghost plane.

However I did have a first officer who swore up and down he had seen a UFO.  Believe me he would be very serious about telling his story.

Me?????Hell I still believe in Santa Clause...I know he exists BECAUSE the ROYAL MAIL still delivers and accepts his mail now DON'T THEY??????

Cheers....Happy Landings.....Doug :)

I found a follow-up to the story. http://www.thisisbradford.co.uk/bradford__district/skipton/news/SKIP_NEWS24.html
I'm wondering if there's someone flying a big PSS R/C model around there. These are scale models of powered aircraft modelled & flown as slope soaring gliders. Either that or some practical joker. Plenty of them in Yorkshire - & Lancashire. LOL ;D

That is not just a strange place where i live is very close to a strange place.  Known as Boskon down (or atleast pronounced that way).  It is the equilivilant to Area-51.  It has really strange aircraft flying around it every night.  Some hover around some go at unbelieveable speeds.  The stealth aircraft were tested there when they were being developed.

This is even more strange because it's not even close to the full moon (when the whackos really come out).

I used to live near Eglin AFB (Florida), a R&D facility, and I saw strange lights, low flying a/c, etc. all the time.  Area 51 (which is now closed, by the way) was also a R&D facility.   Eglin tested AIM-9's and AIM-120's.  Area 51 (Nellis AFB) tested more esoteric aircraft.

I saw a UFO about 10 years ago.  It was a light streaking across the sky far higher and faster than any aircraft could travel.  I later identified it as a satellite.

Area 51 (Groom Lake AFB) is still operative and there are lots of reports about strange stealth aircraft testing around it.

Send me a link to ANY official US military site and I will believe you.  The link you provided, as evidenced by your smilie, is a crackpot site.

I do not dispute the fact that the US government develops secret aircraft at Nellis AFB - witness the stealth fighter and bomber.  As I mentioned, I witnessed tests of AIM-9 and AIM-120's.

Sorry if I take this stuff too seriously but I believe:

- The US government is not secretly hiding bodies of aliens at  Area  51

- We really did land on the moon.

You tell me there is a secret Groom AFB but  the government denies its existence.

The government admits having a (not very well kept) secret testing facility near Nellis AFB where high altitude, high speed aircraft are developed.  We know that the SR-71, F-117 and B-2 were tested there.

People in the area report strange lights, etc.

I'm still wondering what I'm missing  here.  Wouldn't  you expect precisely that behavior from a test base?  An unlisted runway?  Mysterious lights at night?  Government blackouts?

I have no problem with this.  I have problems with people who try to tell me the lunar landings were a huge government coverup, we're hiding alien bodies, etc.
