Maybe somebody out there can answer this for me.  In the mid 70s there was a british (I think) sci-fi tv series that aired in the US on PBS.  It was about some kind of huge space station that was so large it was divided up into different zones almost like countries and the main characters found ways of getting from one zone to another and would wind up in different situations.  There isn't any reason for me to need to know this except I was talking to a friend and neither one of us could think of it.  Just one of those things that bugs me when I can't remember something.  Thanks.

Sorry Jim. I used to be a big sci-fi fan & remember most of those old series. This one doesn't ring a bell at all.

I'm a sci-fi fan as well. However, I never heard of such a series.

All the sci-fi shows that I saw were on the Sci-Fi Channel.

Quark, or maybe Space 1999 (set on Moonbase Alpha).
Otherwise the only other likely contender might be Blakes 7 (the original series with Blake, and that wonderful computer Orac )

About the only British Sci-Fi I know is 'The Hitch-hiker's Guide to the Galaxy' which they're making a movie of, with Tom Cruise as Arthur Dent...

I vaguely remember something like that.  As I recall it was an interstellar ship with a bunch of different biospheres where different groups lived until the ship got to where it was going.  The device that kept the series going was that the ship had malfunctioned and a small group of people were going from one zone to another trying to figure out how to fix the thing.

Problem is I don't remember the name of the series.

Ark or Ark II maybe?

And there was an American one made but do not remember the name. Long skinny ship with arms and at end of arms were glass domed bioshperes.

GW remembers the story!  Also Oso may be correct about the name ARK.  That does sound familiar.  There was also a movie made later on starring Bruce Dern who was on a similar space ship taking care of plants (?) with 3 small robots and I don't remember much moreabout it.
