Ya, just read it before coming here. And over 10 years.
It's going to be a BIG project. They'll propbably add lots of new safety features too. Already have the seperate staircase. What was the "Blast Glaze" thing they were talking about, what would it do?

My thought is that it would keep the glass from melting in an explosion, causing a hazard.  Remember, they want to keep this as fireproof as possible, seeing as they twin towers' downfall was that they melted from the inside out.

From what it says in the article it's more like 5 years at the most. A cornerstone would be laid on the "Freedom Tower" by Sept. 11, 2004, and it would be finished by the end of 2008 or the beginning of 2009

What was the "Blast Glaze" thing they were talking about, what would it do?

I think the description "blast-resistant glaze" suggests that it's explosion-resistant & shatter-proof to some extent.
