and it came with eight legs:)
a huge spider and i mean really huge spider, could have eaten me in my sleep had i not gotten rid of it, anyone care to guess what it was, by quick description, wasnt the common house spider though, it was a really dark brown almost black in color about 4 inches from leg to leg perhaps more, had a smallish head with a fat hairy body, i have not seen one like it before i believe. sure as hell wasnt a friendly looking monster. and def not the old skinny brown large ones usually crawling around

I have no idea what this is. I have no desire to meet it. Make sure you keep it in Bristol.

That's more like it. We need the proof you see. If Foz can post pics of his dins-dins
before he devours it, this task cannot be too difficult.

Sounds like a Wolf spider to me. Nasty little critters, they're every where in BC.

Thankfully there are no such spiders in Greece where I live. At least that's what I think, otherwise my wife would emmigrate for sure. However we have smaller (the normal size) ones and everytime one of them is found in the house my wife calls the emergency service. Do you imagine who is the emergency service? Right! It's me, the spider exterminator! (hehe).

for those who were asking i am in the UK.
now as for the spider, it was almost 100% gaurenteed to be non-poisonus. however it didnt need to be:) that thing could have taken a 300lb man and thrown him like a javelin:)

I think this is a slight exaggeration Craig.

AFAIK there are no poisonous/dangerous spiders native to the UK. This is not necessarily true now as some previously unknown insects/bugs/animals have emigrated & are now resident here. I have seen reports of the Black Widow spider being sighted around Hampshire. I'm just hoping they don't decide to move along the coast a bit.

lol of coarse but i hate the things and it was huge:)
as for what it was done some searching, it is apparently part of the house spider family, however just not like the skinny light brown sort.

looked a little like that but the body was darker
