Good or bad?
I ask because for some unknown reason mine returned today. Now that may sound strange but basically for many years i had a huge ego and a very cocky attitude, now for myself this is a good thing because although i come across as obnoxious the ego alone makes me want to be better than everyone else and i wont stop till i am, However i have also known people who are worse than me however they couldnt back it up and didnt even try.
So again the question
Egos Good or bad?

No I do not have an ego.

I think it is a positive thing to have confidence in yourself, but like with everything it is in moderation, too much and you could have an over-inflated ego which can be damaging for your social acceptability.

I used to...I don't listen to it anymore.  I saw how it made me look.  Like a moron and an a$$.  I tried just mellowing out, and it worked just fine.  But, now I look down on people who act like I once did, and isn't that some form of an ego?...Or just me being a @#*& and holding myself in such high regard?  I don't think I do, at least it's not right up front...I'm I making any sense?...

Anyway, I guess egos are fine, as long as you don't let them take control of you completely.  You still need to listen to your good old brain...And common sense...If you have any.

I used to have a strong ego, you have to to race at high speed, no self doubt, and a can do attitude.  In the long run all it ever got me was a near death experence, and a intimate knowledge of what hot methanol can do to you. Ever had a real, real, real, real bad sunburn? Herself is right, keep your ego in check, use moderation in all things, except maybe flight sims.

For "ego" I usually read "attitude" - not to be confused with confidence. All young people are brimming with confidence, at least they used to be in my day. It's only natural & no bad thing at all. I have no time for people with attitude & do my best to bring them down to size. I've met plenty in my time & usually succeeded.

self-confidence in oneself is good but i define ego as one person putting themselves above another and always trying to be the best.  It's good to feel good about oneself but we also need a certain degree of modesty in our lives.

Like i would say that I am a decent saxophone player and can play very well but i will not admit that i'm simply the best or try to play something that is above my level.

It is a very fine line but like hagar said, ego is attitude.

interesting thoughts indeed.
personally my ego only shows when it knows it cant be knocked on its ass(its a smart ego) and when i know its something that stands a chance of making me look stupid i will just stay quiet.
As for attitude, not really i have come across a few people who had attitude problems, and its amazing how easy it is to shut them down.
But generally without the ego, and cockyness i do tend to fail more often than not, no ego no confidence.

There is no clear differance between confidence and Ego.  Your definition of Ego suggests that you are implying that you are, at times, a true PITA.

I have an ego as well.  I have an unshakeable belief in my ability to understand anything given enough time.  I believe that I can solve any problem that faces me.  However I never let people know that I am better than them at anything, I let them find out for themselves in their own good time.  This way is better for two reasons.

1.  People never get p'eed of with me for being an egotistical b'stard

2. If (when!!! LMAO - happens all the time) I fail I don't look like a complete pillock.

Remember you look way better if you say "I'll do my best" and fail than if you assure everybody that you'll succeed before you start.
