Can't Find Introductory Tank Information

Postby Scorpiоn » Mon Nov 10, 2003 4:56 pm

I think I might've asked for this already, but I'm having trouble researching tanks and fighting vehicles.  I'm pretty much only using google and OnWar, the latter of which only proves valuable if you know what you're looking for.  The former is so far just useless.  If I allrerady asked, I apologize, but are there some sites which have paragraph style info to introduce me into tanks of World War II?

PS: I have requested information from some, and I thank them for their infomation, but just like most of the sites I find, I don't know what to do with it.  I'm just kind of ignorant when it comes to tanks. :P

PPS: Although I reckon I saw Janes Fighting Vehicles for $70 bucks somewhere.  Would it help me?

Good Point

Yeah, but that book was originally $400 or something like that.  Sounds like a bargain to me. ;D Actually though, you make a good point.  All this time I've been looking for just one, complete source.  Why not get a bunch and cross reference them?  Sounds like a plan! ;D Now for hours of browsing at Half Price Books, strangely it's fun though.

Get this book, its called

Brassey's Encyclopedia of Land Forces and Warfare, it shows tactics, diagrams, everything you would want to know on armored land combat.

I'll make a mental note for it, though I've never gone out of my way for a book.

Yo 605 Scorpion,
Check out a book simply titled "Tank" in the military section of your local Barns and Noble bookstore.  Its softcover, inexpensive and covers the history of the tank form its conception in the First World War to present day.
Sorry I don't have an author for you, I've been meaning to pick it up but haven't taken the time.
