What on Earth could cause this to happen? This is the craziest thing I have ever heard of...
TODDLER SCARRED ALL OVER BODY
A one-year-old boy has been bitten 30 times by a group of more than a dozen other babies at a nursery in Croatia.
Frane Simic was covered in a series of deep bite wounds all over his body, including his face.
He was attacked after the class nanny stepped out of the room to change another baby's nappy.
Dr Sime Vuckov, head of the hospital in Rijeka which treated the boy, said: "Biting between young children is not uncommon.
"But I have never seen anything like this."
Police have launched an inquiry into the biting frenzy but admit they are clueless as to the babies' reasons for attacking.
Dr Vuckov warned that while the wounds were expected to heal, the trauma suffered by Frane may leave permanent mental scars on the boy and his parents.
He said: "Our psychologist has evaluated the boy and we will continue to monitor him and provide any type of assistance so that he can overcome the trauma as soon as possible."
Frane's father said he is considering suing the nanny in charge of the class.

Jigga what?
Kids can be nasty sometimes, but I don't see them biting each other...
Hopefully the little guy will, I don't know if this would quite work considering it's a small child and his brain is very developed but, I hope the little guy can, move on.

I think it's time to bring chainmail back into fashion. I know I'll be wearing mine from now on, at least, when I'm around babies.

Very strange & a tad worrying. I might get myself some chainmail too if this becomes common.
I always knew that children are little savages but never heard anything like this before. It makes me wonder if these were normal babies or some of those poor little devils we see in orphanages in places like Romania. Also why they were left unsupervised & the age of the ones doing the biting. My daughter is all grown up now so I can't remember - does the average 1 year-old have teeth?
Did you ever read "Lord of the Flies"?

It's interesting. My boy twin, Alexander, wouldn't bite a fly. I sat there with my finger in his mouth and he just wouldn't do it. His sister, Olivia, if different. Any body part within six inches of her mouth is fair game as far as she is concerned. We actually have to be careful when around her or get chomped. Occasionally between 1 year and 18 months she would just haul off and bight her brother for no apparent reason. She dropped it after a few months, but we really had to watch her.
The only thing I can think of is that it was a room full of biters and new babies love to copy things. The will copy your actions, sounds, movements, everything. Perhaps one bit, and the others wanted to see what the big deal was about.
