If you want to delve into the (European) history of the mid-nineteenth century through the start of WW1, this is a must-read.

It cannot be said that this is about the development of a battleship, but rather how so many elements came together to clash in "the War to end all Wars"...

It deals with the personalities involved - the royal families of Russia, UK, Germany, etc., the prime ministers, defense ministers, etc., and the people...

I'm on my second reading of it  - first reading was about five years ago...

Erm... Not wanting to ruin anything but what is this book called? :P

Another book you might want to read if you like Dreadnoughts and have nothing better to do with your time is "Jutland: An analysis of the fighting" Which is essentially a shot by shot account of what happened there.
