TV Commercials

Postby goball65 » Thu Sep 25, 2003 10:27 am

Ever sit down to supper in front of the TV at suppertime to catch your favorite news channels?
Have you noticed the commercial contents that leave you wondering whether or not you have every unhealthy attribute from athlete's foot to dandruff coupled with ailments within these two areas.
Sickening isn't it - well according to my better 1/2 who heard it on the news and she believes it is Australia is no longer allowing commercials that kiss your hemmoroids goodbye and feminine hygene apparel to be shown during the supper hours.
To bad some other countries don't take a good look at this and act accordingly.
I hardly know of anyone out there who will based on a commercial run out at supper time and purchase these items.
Any comments??????? ;D

Its funny you should bring this up becouse what I've noticed here in the U.S. is that most of the ads run during suppertime deal with fast food, dining out or quickly propared food products.  All this does is make you more hungry for things that are probably not healthy for you.
So look at it this way, maybe its you network progrmmers way of getting you to eat less (Are your networks state run?).  I know that the last thing I want to hear about when I sit down in front of my steak is  of "the heart break of psoriasis".

Sounds to me like the advertisers are doing a good job. ;)
Great edit, Bob.

If you've seen the waist lines on most Americans (including me) you'ld agree that the advertisers are doing too good a job!!
Maybe looking at someones rotting, stinking toes is what we need to turn us away from the dinner table and loose some weight, as a nation that is.

It's not McDonald's fault.  Or Wendy's.  Or Burger King...

Exercise some self control and don't go there, if weight is becoming an issue.

And speaking of exercise...
Great edit, Bob.

The commercials by GEICO Direct Insurance , Ditech.com, Dell computers and Ruby Tuesdays are the most annoying commercials. The Geico commercial win the award for the most useless waste of time with their, "I've got good news" campaign. That and the mega annoying A$$hole that sells everything, "Hi, I'm Billy Maze"

They must all use the same stupid ad agency.

The AFLAC Duck is funny as hell.

Over here the adds are a bit of an eye-opener! I mean an advert for shampoo they have some girl in the shower using the stuff, and you get to see nearly everything! Its not quite the Playboy channel, but its pretty close! I choked on my beer the first time I saw one of these adds (and its on in the afternoon!). I've since become a firm fan of the ads here, 'cos the programs are rubbish :P

LOL ozzy, i remember watching one of those jasper carrot, ads thingy from round the world, i couldnt believe some of the Ads running in europe.
as for america well i was rather shocked at some of the ads that run there the first time i was over there.

One thing I could never understand is how I could eat a quarter pounder and gain two pounds?  It must be the cheese!!

this has puzzled me aswell, i mean its barely anything more than cardboard,
then again i can eat 10 a day and barely gain a pound.:P

Ozzy,
Do they run these "shampoo" ads during supper time?  Maybe that's what it'll take for me to pay less attention to my steak!?

And Romulus,
Yes the AFLAC duck is great!!  He's a big hit at where I work.
