Conspiracy Or Not???

I am using a high speed internet connection that used to work on several sites very well.
In the past months these major sites (flight & golf) have been advertising your own personal speedier download facilities (at a price of course).
It isn't bad enough you get bombarded with all kinds of advertising but now downloads are occuring at the speed of a herd of turtles.
Could/would these sites be applying a method of retarding download speeds in order for the user to pay their monthly/yearly fee for A1 service?
I know for a fact that on numerous sites (sans speedy d/l facilities) my speed is top notch so it isn't my system.
I have left the sites anonymous however if you would like to test on out please contact me via my e-mail and I'll provide the site name(s).
I'm sure most of you out there know which sites to which I refer.
Thanks

You also have to realize that just because your connection may be fast, the other end may not be.

It's like comparing internet traffic to auto traffic. Just because you have a nice driveway off a nice low-traffic highway, doesn't mean there's no traffic jam in the city ;)

Exactly as Andrew said - internet traffic is 99% likely to be the culprit - not conspiracy.  :)

I use the net day long & know that unless a site is a multi billion $ setup - like ebay or amazon - with multiple servers spread round the globe - you are likely to have trouble connecting from time to time...

To find out for sure where the problem lies - try a simple  'tracert' test. In windows go to Start - Run & type 'tracert www.whateversite.com'   (Need I add?? .. replace 'whateversite' with the site in question..  :) )

Watch the 'trace' - the '*' & timeouts are the bottleknecks along the cyber highway  :)

It isn't bad enough you get bombarded with all kinds of advertising .....

I presume you apply the same complaint to TV ??  ;)

Expenses have to be met or the site goes bust...

It's also important to remember that information coming through your internet connection will only do so at the speed of the slower modem.

For example, if you're on a broadband, and you're getting crazy speeds, but the computer you're getting the information from is on a dial up, you're only going to get it at dial up speeds.

Imagine you've got a 5 inch diameter fire hose.  (The kind you usually see hooked up to hydrants.)  Hook that up to the hydrant, and you're going to get a gush of water out the other end.  However, if you're getting the water from a garden hose plugged into the end of it, you're only going to get a trickle of water out the open end... ;)

It's aliens what is doing it, or the CIA and FBI and MI5,6 and 7.  MI25 are the worst, they slow all traffic  everywhere!!

now we all no that aliens have no business in the internet, so we can rule them out. i dont no much, but i do no that the super bowl, the world series, the olympics, and the next 3 world cups were pre-taped in the same hangars that the roswell crash evidence is in. :P

Then why does a website like www.martianporn.com exist?

How many of you really went to that site?  Be honest.

can't help but think of Bernoulli's  principle...........so the imformation coming out of the garden  hose would be at a
lower pressure and higher velocity...........did somebody mention something about illegal aliens? ? ? ? ::)

I'm so glad I didn't use my original idea of peeing into the fire hose.  Who knows what kind of reminder that would have given OTTOL.  I'm appreciative that he went with good ol' Bernoulli.
