It was 12 years ago today that Boris Yeltsin took his famous stand against the putsch, and was filmed standing on top of a tank rallying people against them KGB nutters.

They tried to burn down the pairlament building... you could see the black stuff weeks after that.
Cynical: Jeltsin kicked out the KGB guys in 1991, and he appointed Putin (high KGB figure) as the new president
