The Northeast US and parts of Canada hvae had no power this evening. Around here the lights lfickered and went out for a bit, but then came back, some 'hoods are still out. Massive amounts of people trying to get home in NYC without subways and buses.

I live up state in New York...I just got power back. Anyone know why it happened? I heard it was a fire in a power plant. It sucks, I was going to go to a picnic with my family and some other people that own businesses around here. That may not sound like fun but, it was going to be at a Aerodrome. I would have been able to see a lot a pretty old fighters.

I'm in Albany and we had no power. Just one of fifty million people, so I hear.
Turns out there was no fire at the ConEd Power plant. Just normal smoke from their shut down.

I'm in Toronto, (south Canada) its midnight and the power is still out. You can see the stars and satellites moving. The moon makes it brighter and ruins it a bit.
P.S I'm using a laptop, I'm lucky that I have a charged battery.
Good to see the power returning.

A while ago I heard the F-16s going east for CAPs...they are taking absolutely no chances.

Actually, luck-wise it was pretty good! It went down at about 415pm, and although this was the hottest part of the day, it had started to cool off just a few minutes later...could have been a lot worse.
Plus, they got a lot of people back up really quickly.
Kudos!

Kitchener Ontario out at 4:15 p.m back on at 3:00 a.m.
Checked some tv news networks this morning and all the 'experts' and 'analysts' have been dragged out from under their rocks ro resolve the problem.
Where are they when we need them.
Canada blames US and vice versa however kudos to the emergency personnel who didn't give a damn who or what caused it but were prepared to deal with it and did so accordingly.
My biggest surprise was that the mayor of Toronto didn't call in the army.
Certainly gave families time to do quality time with one another. Haven't seen my better 1/2 for that long in the past month.
Listened to the WB&C calling into the radio stations with dumb ass questions and basically concerned with their own problems. Couldn't watch Fear Factor,or the other so called virtual reality shows and were rapidly running out of their favorite prescription drugs that keep them in touch with the real world.
I am sure most of us are surviving and have overcome FS,computer and tv withdrawl and are back to normal.
Have a great day!!!!
PS WB&C = whiners, bitchers and complainers - those people out there who wouldn't be happy if they were hung with a new rope.

Our two countrys shouldn't play the blame game! Thats immature. You know, this whole turn of events reminds me of a movie..."Canadina Bacon." It's a funny movie about the US and Canada going at it over a "Canadian" atempt to blow up the power plant at Niagra Falls. To get back to the topic, CNN says the reason for the blackout is still unknown.
