Earlier today the Hughes racer crashed on it way back to Oregon from Oshkosh in midway geyser basin five miles north of old faithful. It killed the pilot, Jim Wright. Not real sure of the cause yet, but it sounds like an engine failure. Quite a shame, it took 1 million dollars and 35,000 hours to build. I saw this plane last week at Oshkosh and there was some beautiful work done. I am sure Jim will be missed.

I hate to hear these things, I lost my father
in a plane crash, The family is where my heart
go out to!

I saw a show about the H-1, Hughes left on a
cross country, when the origina had less than
1 hour on it, Total hours now is about 40!!

Our prayer go to the family!!

A sad story indeed for such an endeavor........I bet the other builders hurt almost as much as Jim's wife......... :-/

I saw that plane flying over my house every so often since it was built. I'm sorry to hear that I'll never get to see it again.

It's a sad day when any pilot is killed in an accident.

As a tribute to Jim Wright and the H-1 I am going to design one for FS.  There already is one out there, but it was originally created for FS2000 and I wnated one for 2k2 and 2k4.  It is going to include a Howard Hughes version and a Jim Wright version.  I have some resources, but any help is appreciated.
