There are others on the Forum who would happily shoot Win '98 down in flames..
But...
I have had Win '98 SE, (Second Edition), installed since it first came out, (after Win'95).
I find it simple and un-complicated, and only contains exactly what I actually require from it.
It always seems completely stable to me, although others often don't agree...

If you don't like Win XP, (I personally am not too fussed on it, as a games player), then I would go for Windows '98 SE....

...!
It makes a good "Games" System!
Up-grades are still available from Microsoft.
