It's good to be an uncle...

Postby Wing Nut » Fri Jun 27, 2003 5:07 pm

Well,  I finally did it.  For years I have been threatening to give my 1968 Mustang to my niece.  At one point in her life, my wife and I were going to adopt this girl and her sister, so we are probably a lot closer than most uncles/nieces are.  She has had her eye on this car since she was ten years old and has been hinting that she would love to have it.  So, last night when we were speaking on the phone, she hinted again, and I would give it to her for graduation.  She doesn't even want me to restore it.  She says she wants to do it herself over a few years.  She was so happy she could barely contain herself when I told her.  *Sigh*  It's kind of a bittersweet thing.  I have had the car for many years and am going to miss it, but I love the feeling of giving it to her, and knowing I am passing a wonderful hobby down to someone who will show an interest and take care of my baby...

Respect Kevin, that is a totally wonderful thing to do. I wish you were my uncle, mine are all tighter than a ducks bottom! I'd be lucky to get a Matchbox car out of them....
