I'm just wondering what everyone's real world experience is.  Please be as specific as possible.  (ie what type's you flew, where you were a controller, who you  fly for, etc...)

I myself do not have any real world flight experience (though once while working as a flight attendant for Continental, my captain wanted me to talk to ATC for him.  lol)  I learned most of my instrument stuff from asking the various pilots that I worked with.  The technique side of things was learned by trial and error.

I have my private pilots license. I have about 200 hours. I have my float rating and night rating. I do not have my instrument ratings. I have not flown for about 1 year due to a lack of funds but plan to get flying again soon. FS2002 has got me excited about it all over again. I learned on a 152 and have flown a number of hours in a 172sp. My home airport is ZBB (Boundary Bay). Just south of Vancouver, B.C. near the U.S. border.

well i have a few hours in a piper cherokee/warrior, and in a couple of months maybe weeks i will start training full time for what i hope to be all the way through to CFI rating. in what i believe is a 172

Currently don't hold a licence (nothing to do with certain stunts seen here!), was training with the RAF when one eye went slightly short, so ended up as a loadie. Great job
Currently clock time (when possible) on AN-2s at the local parachute club, but more normally clock time jumping out of them

Close to 1000 hrs -- obtained CPL in 1968 which I allowed to expire by 1982. Have flown C150, C152, C172, C182, Cherokee 140, Cherokee 180, Piper Super Cruiser, Citabria 7GCBC (with 15 hrs of aerobatics course completed), Aeronca Champ, Piper Comanche 260, Grumman AA5 American, Grumman Tiger, Cheetah & Traveller -- all flown as PIC.  Also had 10 hrs dual in a Robinson R-22 helicopter and approx 150 hrs "stick-time" on an S-55 helicopter (prior to learning to fly) and I am a survivor of a helicopter crash that demolished the aircraft but from which 3 of us walked away.

At age 64, I am working getting my PPL privileges renewed which I will complete within the next couple of months here in Abbotsford, BC or at the Langley, BC airport.

I'm currnetly only one or two hours away from my GFPT in Australia, I plan to go on and get mey CPL with CIR, mabye an instuctor rating as well.

Let's see, I've got almost 1000 hrs of simulated time. I've been up a few times as a passenger in 152 & 172s, but only have 1.6 hours total of left seat time in a 172 while flying with a good friend of mine who is a CFII

No real flying time but I'm waiting for my TIF to happen - in 4 weeks hopefully - if I don't become a cripple again............

I'm 44 and have the time and the funds (sort of) to have a go at my PPL over a reasonable time, so I'm going to give it a go.

But as some know, my claim to FAME, is my ride in a Spitfire V (RAAF trainer) at Richmond RAAF Base just west of Sydney (it's in FS2000) in the early 60's with my grandfather.

I've done 33 hours altogether so far, 2.5 in a C-182, and the rest in the C-172.  Done 10 solo as well.  I tell ya, you'll remember you're first solo for your whole life, an incredible experience .  Would like to get my CPL and all those other ratings, including a float (that could be cool), but I don't think I'd really like to go all the way to ALTP, away from home too much, and it also takes a long time to get there.

I got up to commercial and instrument for single- and multi-engine airplanes.  I nearly got my CFI but I just got sick of flying in general at that point and haven't flown a real airplane since.
