Is it live or is it Memorex?

I was driving down Wolf road on the back side of the Palwaukee airport here in the Chicago area when I looked over and way off in the distance saw some black and white stripes that looked like D-Day stripes. After D-Day (for those who don't know) the allies painted black and white stripes on the wings and fuselage of aircraft for identification. I looked again, and sure enough, there were two wings, but I was going to fast to make out the aircraft.
I swung around to the opposite side of the field and hiding in the bushes I found a static display of a P-51 and a P-47 mounted as if in flight. They were outside of the 94th Aero Squadron restaurant, on the front entryway. However, it wasn't until I actually walked up to the aircraft that I realized they weren't even real! They were fiberglass mockups, but they looked so real they could have passed for the real thing. I mean they looked fantastic.
I realized that at the angle they were, these could not have been what I saw from Wolf road. The restaurant was in the way. So I went inside for a soda and low and behold, out back was a P-38 Lightning. Another mockup, although this one had been built on the ground. Again though, these things were almost PERFECT looking.
I took some pictures, but won't be able to post them until I get them back this week (yes, I have not joined the digital age yet. Give me my old Contax any day...)
I don't know whether I should be thrilled or ticked off. I mean I got to see three WWII fighters but then I didn't.
