Name the new Boeing plane!

Postby Oz » Tue May 06, 2003 8:11 pm

Boeing is currently developing a new aircraft which is supposed to be released in 2008. They have made a poll on their new site asking what would be the best name, the Stratoclimber, eLiner, Dreamliner, and Globalcruiser. Go to http://www.newairplane.com to cast your vote and see which is winning. Heres a pic of the plane:

Added a poll here too..... ;)

interesting poll. i voted for "e-Liner". seems to be the most suitable name for such a modern aircraft.

I like the name Global Crusier the best, so I picked that.

I would guess Boeing will use the 787 number configuration alongside the name since it goes after the latest 777 and the plane is to be released in 2008. It looks like a pretty cool plane, sleek and efficient.

I always expected the next Boeing airliner would be a double-deck full length plane (like the A380 will be)-but I guess I was wrong.  I don't know the specs, but it only looks slightly larger than the 777.

I have to agree with Woody. It's become traditional to call them by their numbers so why change it? The last Boeing commercial airliner I can remember having an official name was the B-377 Stratocruiser.

OK, I changed my vote to the 787 designation.  I don't see why we should change that tradition.
