Got any roadside kills?

Where I live, during certain times of the year, deer run acrossed the road like you wouldn't believe. Consequently, a lot of people hit deer.

My grandparents have lived in this area about 30 years and they have hit so many animals while driving, it's amazing. They have hit over a dozen deer between the two of them, once my grandfather hit 2 at once. my grandmother has even hit a couple moose :o. My grandfather has ran over dogs, hit horses, and once even ran over a baby bear!

last Sunday, the rest of my family drove to Spokane early in the morning. My brother has been working on his driving permit so he was driving at the time. About 5 minutes after leaving home, a deer ran out in front of him with out warning. My brother wasn't able to miss him, but was able to slow down a little. He hit the deer going about 45 miles and hour, killing the deer, and doing around $2,000 dollars worth of damage to the Explorer. luckily, the insurance is covering almost all of it.

ironically, our mechanic told my mom that there were 3 other people that day who hit a deer also. That night as I was coming home from work, a deer ran out in front of me, but luckily was just far enough out that I didn't hit him.

How about all of you? Is anyone here roadside aces like my grandparents? ;D

In my time I've taken out a deer, a remarkable number of rabbits, and a few birds!
My uncle once hit a cow, that destroyed the front of his Land Rover (he was motoring!). But otherwise no.

Mark you are a deer behind me ....I only need three more to become an ace on that particular type.....insurance write-off on both of them too......On an interesting side note though, on a major hwy (401) in Ontario, if you travel west from Toronto to Detroit, you will come to the city of Windsor on the Canadian side of the border with the US......as you drive into the early part of that city and on the main roadway, you will pass a little restaurant, called the Roadkill Cafe......Honest.....someone actually named their place with that name..........I didn't have the time or nerve just to go in and look at the menu, but I guess I should have

Well one of our school minibusses hit a deer once. It went straight under the bus and got stuck under the car behind. It took the teachers 1/2 and hour to get it out!

Funny thing about English law is that if you stop after hitting a pheasant and pick up the corpse to eat it, it is considered poaching!  If you pick up a pheasant that has been killed by someone else it isn't.  This used to result in my brother and I going out in one car and some mates in another, we would then desparately try to hit pheasants LOL.  It was fun at the time honest.........

Note - it is best to cook the bird first, my post implies eating it on the roadside :D

Moose are a problem in Northern Ontario. Apparently it's like driving into a brick wall if you hit a moose. Funny thing is that the Natives will actually drag the carcus off the road and cook it up. True story.

In a plane? Hmmmm, I will have to show pics of behind the prop - like the windscreen/windshield - heh, bet all you wimpy stomach people will love this *rolls eyes*

In a car, I have hit a deer. Served it right. It was in my way. It had absolutely no right to be on the sidewalk.
