Help

A few months ago I downloaded Gozilla because I felt it would make my downloads faster.  Whilst it was useful in that I could download more than one thing at a time I found that sometimes it put things in the strangest of places and I soon got fed up with it and uninstalled.  Since that time every time I started a new down load the Gozilla screen would come up and I would have to manually bypass it.  Sometimes the download would abort because I didn't use Gozilla.  As you can imagine I was getting a little Peeved with this so today I did a search on windows and manually delted everything that referred to Gozilla.

Now I cannot download any files at all.  I click on them and the little slide bar at the bottom corner fills up as internet explorer finds the file and then nothing happens.

How do I stop my system from doing this?  I need to find out because I cannot handle not getting any new planes!!!  I'm using Windows ME by the way.

Hi Will. I never trusted Gozilla as it's known spyware. I assume you uninstalled it properly via the Add/Remove Programs route?

I don't have a quick fix as I've never experienced anything like this. I can only suggest that Gozilla made itself the default download program. I don't know how to change that as it no longer exists on your system. I can't find anything from a quick look through IE settings. Did you try the right-click options on the download links?

The only way out might be to reinstall it & reset the preferences. Not sure how you can do this if you can't download anything.  ???

Maybe one of the software gurus can help.

Hi Will, I've recently had trouble with Explorer, so I downloaded Netscape (but you could try Opera, a lot of people like that), and run it. If that doesn't overcome the problem then you might have to look at re-installing your OS!
You could try contacting M$ support, maybe they have a quick fix?

I'm a real dummy when it comes to anything P.C. related.
No expertise whatsoever.

However, I have fixed alot of funny and annoying "happenstances" by doing a "system restore".

In your case I would go back as far as I could. Prior to you uninstalling the program. That may reset whatever the program did when you uninstalled it (if it did do anything).

I think Brensec's suggest might do the trick.
The problem with suggesting different browsers or even IE updates is that this would involve downloading files. This is exactly what Will cannot do.....!

Following the above advice I've managed to fix the problem!!!  I had to do a search for Go!Zilla and install a new version of explorer.  Everything now works fine.

Cheers guys.
