I don't know about best, the most popular are either Cessnas, or An2s.

We have a resident Piper Pawnee tug at my local airfield, (Shobdon EGBS), which tows the gliders up, to soar over the Black Mountains and Radnorshire Hills.... :)....!
It sports the registration letters G-B TUG...lucky or what...?
LOL...!
It does an excellent job with a powerfull engine and good all-round visibility due to its high cockpit.

Cheers...
Paul.

Sorry to be away for quite sometime.

Well, I didn't know An-2s can tug, I think they are a bit too big, aren't they?
Piper Pawnee.

This one seems nice

I am thinking about the J-3, I wonder if it does the job well, is it still in service?

I always thought Wilga was a popular girl.........But from experience, I know the Erin Soaring Society uses a Bellanca Citabria (CG-PKD), and York Soaring had two SuperCub models for towing when I was there last..........

Here is PKD

nothing a Yak-18T couldn't do i think.

a tug-midified PZL Dromader would be really cool (1000hp radial!!!)
