I guess I always took it for granted. I thought the Concorde had long since stopped relying on "booked" passengers, and had relied on special charter flights filled with people willing to pay whatever the cost might be.

Somehow, I wouldn't be surprised if a special charter group steps up with a hand full of "elite" passengers still willing to keep the novelty of "ultra-sonic" Atlantic crossings alive.    ;D

Let's hope  ;)

this plane was never meant to fly for more than 30 years anyway, i believe the designers had ideas that with all the technology in the future concorde would be quickly especially by the americans, as sad as it may be, and please dont take my next comment as being in anyway antagonistic or being mean to anyone, but i believe it eats up alot of american plane manufacturers that they havent been able to create a viable option to challenge and replace concorde. and nothing ever will be able to, sad sad day when it finally goes :'(

Well,, that's the good and bad of capitalism. With countless flights of hundreds of people crossing the Atlantic every day ( at mach 0.7 for almost free), there was no market for a couple dozen passengers at mach 2.1. If there were,, TRUST me, the market would have been exploited years ago...just follow the money...

It was never an issue of not being able to.
