When I went to the main simviation site and saw the link to the "Meigs Field destroyed" scrolling by in a java applet window... I went to check it out and was SHOCKED at what I saw....
Earlier this morning I was using the Meigs field to try out my first Boeing 777-300 paint job (first time ever for any plane myself) (I know, bad field to use a 777 - way too short of a runway) - but it's sick and immoral to see something like this happen... to sneak out like that late in the night and tear up the runway and tell others about it later in the morning - sounds like the Mayor of Chicago just graduated from kindergarten and hasn't enrolled into preschool or first grade yet. This is way too childish to be doing things like that and using the "Homeland Security" excuse is so stoooooopid! :-/ How many years have Meigs been in service (up until today)? I could go and look it up on Google after I do this post, but I thought I'd ask you guys that.
I'm watching the "live" video of the Meigs Field, with the field partially torn. Here's a link to it.
Scroll down on the pull-down menu bar until you find the Meigs Field on the list.

I'm sure Microsoft is very pissed off right now as Meigs is (in my case) always the first airport listed when starting the program itself. I hope someone finds a way to keep Meigs in business, but it's highly doubtful now that the runway is destroyed. :(
