UCAVs

 Yesterday I read where Northrop/Grumman got their UCAV (Unmanned Combat Air Vehicle), the X-47A, up and flying.  Looks like pilotless aircraft are going to be the wave of the future!

 Crazy, they might lengthen you career.  Although UCAVs won't have a pilot in them, they would still be flown via remote control.  This will allow older pilots, who get "out of shape" as they age but have much experance, to continue "flying" (in a way).

I'd rather be in the plane, no matter what the plane will be capable of the pilot will never have propper SA and besides why go into the military to fly RC planes

Well lemme see. I am 50 years old with weakening eyesight and my butt is too big to fit in the seat of a real plane. But if my Country called and there was anything, I mean anything, even if it was shoveling s**t, if it would make a difference I would do it.

But I would much prefer to fly RC planes than Latrine duty.  ;D

I would prefer any duty to latrine duty.  Getting paid to fly on a "flight sim" would be rather nice.  Just think of the kit you could accidentaly take home.....

for those of you who don't know about a project called " HiMat" its a bit better to fly from without than within when you start to take the envelope to 12 G's or more..... personally, I would love to try those high G maneuvers with a jet ....I know I have stressed some of my gliders in very high G turns, but the sustained ability of things like the HiMat, would be such a blast.....
