IMHO, the best insight into the Blue Angels is a 4-part TV/movie called "Blue Angels: A Year in the Life" which can be had on youtube (in separate episodes) and DVD. It follows the group of the 2004-2005 season from training through the final show including the selection process for next years team. Beautifully shot and edited it manages to convey not only the extraordinary precision of the team but the wonderful personalities of the men and women who volunteer for this highly demanding squadron.
$30 on Amazon for a pristine copy might seem extravagant but I promise you that it's worth it.
