While in the evangelist circuit, collections were taken but I was never a financial recipient -- ever -- always relying on God to provide a secular job, not only to survive on but also for my part in the ministry.
The original apostles spread the 'gospel' mainly by treading the sod and the word was spread by new disciples, like a domino effect, extending the extremities; although they also utilized the further-ranging method of ship travel, the command was given to all: one physical entity was never relied on to spread the 'word' to the world. Admittedly, if assuredly by no other spirit, God ordered me to, I should follow the command -- but there's certainly the turmoil of making sure of it...
