Even though we moved to Herefordshire at the start of the Blitz of London (WW II), my Mum, Dad, and I, never quite lost our cheeky London accent....I love it...!: lol: ....!

The London accent is the basis of the Oz one.

I still have a broad Canadian accent with a tiny remnant
of an Irish one. I can still pass for a Torontonian . My Irish
(Dublin) accent is almost gone.

I love tracing accents.....

...and even though most of my Northern USA Youtube Biker Chums now say words like; Guys, Cool, Dude, Epic, Awesome, etc...etc...I can still detect some of their British, Irish and Northern European accents when they occasionally relax and fall back on their forebear's origins!

My wife's mother's family were from New Cross Gate, at the end of the Old Kent Road. Her Dad was from Tooting, and she grew up in Wandsworth. How London can you get? She has a very distinctive accent and turn of phrase which our Herefordian friends found difficult to understand at times. After 20 years they were beginning to get to grips with it, and we were getting to grips with 'erryfurd.

Strangely, when we holidayed in the USA, people always asked if we were Australian. We had to say UK, because most had never heard of England!!

Following the daily news broadcasts from different US States, I have got used to mimicking those accents when I read some of my US Chums who I guess may live in those States!
One of my favourites was/is our member; "Jetranger" with his broad; "Takes-us" accent..."Yee-Haa!".... ...!

With Anthin, I put on an Australian accent..."Cor, Blimey Sheila!"

With my New England and North US Atlantic Cousins, it is a mixture of Scottish and Irish....

My Southerner Cousins get the Deep South Accent!

While in Southern California it's the Mexican Accent....wearing a Sombrero and a Shawl...and a very big mustache...

....and whilst reading "Yancovitch's" Posts....I put on a Russian accent....while performing a Cossack Dance in my living room!.... ...!

And there are loads more of them!

It took me a while to correctly? pronounce Mexican/Spanish words starting with the letter "J" found in Southern California, etc......

The accent which always tickles me, is the one found in North Dakota...(and annoys many of the folks living there!).

Jesús = Heh-SUS
San José = San Ho SEH (Note: NOT the Canadian 'eh' which sounds more like Fonzi's Eyyyyy!)
San Joaquín = San Hwah-KING.
