I've got stuff in my Larder and my 'fridge that dates back to the 1800's....(probably).

The "Use by" dates have long since disappeared.... ....!

Must get around to throwing it all out....some time... ...!

Paul.... ... ...!

English English v American English/Old French..... ;) .....>>>

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Larder

My Larder contains a large slab of Concrete shelf which can be kept wet, where the water evaporation lowers the temperature and creates a cold area.
Used for storing food.
An alternative to a refrigerator!

A Pantry is just a room for storage....>>>>

Lots of Food buried deep in my Larder..... ...!

.....mostly out of date... ....!

....a bit like me.

Paul..... ....!

Ice Houses!

Fantastic places!
Quite common years ago.

Now we have Refrigerators....

...and my Larder, in my kitchen.... ...!

My Mum and Dad (B 1900. D 1989) never owned a refrigerator, (or a motor car), for the whole of their lives!

They lived from the the days of the Horse and Cart in London, to Men on the Moon!

Paul.....A Massive Chicken Casserole (with everything) for tomorrow's Dins!.... ...!

Paul,

YOU. DA. MAN!

What a delicious repast! Nice choice of Ingredients, and an inviting, pastoral place setting!

Of course, you're 7 Hours ahead of me (as of this writing), so have a wonderful Supper!

Or is it Dinner?

Alan :ugeek:

Ta Alan!

The fun is in the shopping, preparation, cooking, and eating!

And my old-fashioned eating times are: Breakfast 8AM (egg and bacon), Dinner Mid day (the BIG meal!), Tea 5PM (Tetley Tea, and buttered crumpets), and Supper 10PM (something nice and warming before bed).

...anything in between is an extra treat!

Then tomorrow starts up all over again!

Paul.... ... .....!
