With todays advancement in Technology especially with VIDEO and computers and being able to SHARE things like never before, some are Hell Bent in keeping us back in the Stone Ages for any reason what so ever, they can come up with , they must lay asleep at night thinking how they can piss everybody off constantly

Copyright stuff!

It worries me a bit when I edit my videos of my Motorcycle Trips and include some music in them.

I have to search for some You-Tube music which is free, and free from copyright restrictions.

Its too easy not to notice that there is a restriction on including certain music, etc, in our videos!

A peek through the You-Tube sound files shows lots of very nice music, etc, which is free from copyright!

I just have to take care in my selection!

...any doubt, and its advisable to include a reference to the source of the music, etc, in the end credits!

Copyright School??? Well, that's a new one. It's stuff like this stuff that wears out my Sicilian Gutter Language Dictionary. A gift from my Grandfather. Gets me through tough stuff. Like this. Yep, some twerp out there has a hair up his, allright.

"Copyright violations" that obviously do not benefit the "violator" monetarily are pretty moot, I'd say. And FS videos? It's just you sharing your fun. Someone out there has nothing better to do than turn people in for doing nothing.

Unfortunately, Youtube can enforce complaints by removing videos. With so many thousands of videos, we gotta wonder how whoever even found yours.

Beware the Video Police, they're out to get ya anyway they can.

It's a grey area in any case as many (if not most) of the world's best selling artists aren't bothered at all and even encourage it -- and it promotes their real music on the likes of spotify, etc.
Prince's music sales were drastically reduced to a fraction of what they would have been by his refusal to allow his stuff freely posted on youtube (it's all appearing again now after his death)

If you want to walk around life with a lawyer holding your hand - go ahead....... & Meanwhile the rest of us just live life ......

What pisses me off, its mainly only about the MUSIC,,,, at least now it is in anybodys video's,,,,

BUT, lets say I VIDEO my Dodge Challenger,,, and show the Goodyear TIRES,,,,

won't belong before the Tire manufacturer can file a claim for showing their product in a video since their not getting revenue from it they claim,,,,,

or the FCC / Fiat Chrysler Corp. could do the same,,,,,

but we haven't seen that have we ,,,,,, nope !!!

those Greedy Music companies and their producers got by with it,,,,, even tho you may have already purchased the music on DISC,,,,,

why I quit buying music from the producers and studio's , fed up with their excuses and BS,,,,,

tho they sure don't mind using video footage of concert crowds in their video's,,,, without everyones express permission.

its definetly a 1 sided game , thanks to lawyers and greedy recording companies who often as we have seen cheat the actual artist out of a lotta money.

Clearly, I haven't got a clue about how things work, but, as I see it, the only way to deal with this type of stuff is to return to the original intention of copyrights as expressed in the Copyright Act of 1790

The stated object of the act was the "encouragement of learning," and it achieved this by securing authors the "sole right and liberty of printing, reprinting, publishing and vending" the copies of their "maps, charts, and books" for a term of 14 years, with the right to renew for one additional 14 year term should the copyright holder still be alive.

So, back then, in the USA, a copyright could last as much as 28 years.

The English preceded that law with, The Statute of Anne, 1710, a similar 14 year, plus optional 14 year extension.


Lawyers, realizing that they make the laws, decided that they might as well make Golden Opportunities for all the poor struggling lawyers of the world, have extended the copyright time as far as they can. At the moment anyway.

If the work was a "work for hire", then copyright persists for 120 years after creation or 95 years after publication, whichever is shorter.

There can be no question anymore about "encouragement of learning". After a hundred years no one will care about whatever....

But the lawyers fully expect future lawyers to double or triple the length of time allowed for a copyright. Generation after generation. Ad infinitum ad nauseum.

I went a Jumped onboard the Big PINK Copyright Bus of You Tubes

Went to their School thingy , and lit up a Cigarrete to have a smoke while I supposedly got "Ed'U'cated" on Stuff

But the Teacher was sum ol' Hag and she bored me to no end !!!!

My Attention Deviated to other pretty things in the class room, mostly short skirts and low cut blouses

I have NO idea what they taught me in that Class,,,, whatever it was

BUT, I was able to Ed'U'Cate myself by YOU TUBE, imagine that !!!!!

It's not a person that 'points you out'. It's a program that runs video to scan for music (the MP3 part). It's logic looks for patterns. Then it tries to match pattern to a library of songs and music that Google has amassed, and continues to gather, over the years. That is why the 'delay' of 'years' happens. If it is 'a match' it generates a 'Copyright Violation'. You can avoid all this by including the NAME OF music, the AUTHOR name, or the OWNERS name (Recording Co) of that song or music, in the description (text) area (and not just in video). The Recording Company's join a 'Service' that will 'protect' it rights ( ie: they pay FEES for this service). They are the ones that run the program. Not Google or YouTube. YouTube, then, has NO CHOICE but to honor the complaint and 'prosecute'. It has no choice. That's LIfe...Deal with it.
