Very interesting read Rich...seems to me that this many war ships missing in the same battle area is rather odd. Would cost a fortune to raise those ships and not sure just how that could be done without anyone seeing it happen.

Hope to hear more on this.

Thanks Doug, I read that it could be the Low-background steel they are after, apparently steel manufactured before nuclear explosions is very difficult and expensive to acquire. Like you I really can't see how they were salvaged without anyone noticing what was going on. I hope someone does a follow up report and the story is not forgotten like so many others.

Cheers
Rich

With the recent devastating earthquakes in New Zealand in the last couple of days, I wonder if they have been swallowed up in the "Pacific Ocean Ring of Fire"?...... :o ...!

Cheers Paul fascinating stuff, I did wonder if some sort of seismic activity caused it but surely someone would have noticed it. As for the so-called clean steel, this pretty much debunks that idea http://www.straightdope.com/columns/rea ... ioactivity.

Methinks someone better re-examine their Sonar tracks and Photographic evidence... removing assets of that size and at that depth sound vaguely like something out of an Ian Fleming novel, involving SPECTRE and 007!

Think about the size, complexity and sheer magnitude of the Salvage Op; how could something of that scope go on, without somebody noticing?

Alan :ugeek:
