Thanks for the reminder Paul. I forgot a couple of the symptoms we "Older Flyers" need to watch out for. Everyone should read this article since we'll all eventually move into the high risk area.

.... ;) ....Hawk...!

During a routine visit to my Doctor quite a few years ago, I happened to mention, with a grin, that it was taking me forever to have a pee in the public toilets, with Blokes coming in and out of the toilet, leaving me in there, slowly; "dribbling".... ...!

As quick as a flash, the Doctor had me lying on his surgery couch, with my trousers down around my ankles, whiles he donned a pair of rubber gloves and proceeded with an internal examination up where the sun don't shine!!... ...!

You are lucky, he said, from feeling the gland, your particular problem is just an "enlarged Prostrate Gland" causing the "slow urine" problems. It often happens with; "Old Blokes".... ...!

The problem can be treated with medication, relieving pressure on the gland and enabling urine to pass more freely.... :D ...!

The Doctor can tell from feeling the surface of the gland whether it is just enlarged.... :D .... or likely to be cancerous.... ...!

So, there you go Chums...Keep a wary eye on the; "Water Works" down below!
..any problems, then go and see your Doctor straight away, explaining the problem, and get immediate treatment!

Remember: "Prostate Cancer" is our biggest killer and can be treated...if caught in time... ;) ...!

Paul...Here endeth the first lesson!.... :D ...!

I found a painless cure for that...twice, Hawk.... ;) ....

....without a visit to the Doctor, and internal examinations!... ...!

Not always from feeling (finger up the rear entrance)
Friend of mine had a really intensive 'feel' and showed nothing (& yes it was just a finger). Later that year he went into hospital for something else and they did a blood test and routinely also tested PSA -- and it transpired he had full blown prostate cancer.

Prostate had to be completely removed and now they are monitoring for further spread but so far seems ok. I also had the PSA as a result of his experience.

Had he not had that done he would be on his way to the funeral parlour now and living his last days, if not already dead. It has however changed his life completely.

Lesson? Finger feel in the rectum is simply not enough.

Since being diagnosed with an enlarged Prostate Gland, I now have annual medication reviews (Blood Pressure, Thyroid Gland, Prostate Gland, etc) with the practice nurse, and also annual blood tests performed at the Hospital Laboratory (including a PSA Test) to check all the above.
All proving fine for many years now!

For the Prostate I take daily Doxazosin tablets to reduce the pressure on the gland...works a treat!

Age: 82.
Height: 5'-7".
Weight: 152Lbs.
Blood pressure: 130/70.
Heart: rate 60BPM.
Happiness: 100%.

White blood cell counts and an MRI reveals a lot of secrets that general practitioners can't see. My problem was intestinal but a 4 inch x 4.5 inch lesion was putting huge pressure on my prostate. Went misdiagnosed until one night last August I started going septic and checked into Emerg. Since, I have had 3 major surgeries and yet another one coming up this summer.
I agree with all here, don't delay, because you'll be less of a man when your ticker stops.
